This run/walk has been created to bring a continued awareness to the issue of teen violence, and the effects of teen violence on the victim, the families involved, the perpetrator and the community as a whole.
The event is designed to bring families and the community together, uniting for a cause and taking a Stand Against Teen Violence and violence in our community.
Jordan Hawkins was one of the first mentee back in 2010. At an early age he participated with YMOS in Relay for Life, Feeding the community and other community service projects. At 16, Jordan was killed back in August of 2018. This senseless
act of violence should not be forgotten. We as a community need to take a stand against teen violence, and not accept it as a part of our daily lives.
The run/walk is a family oriented event. A 5K fun run/walk for families will enjoy raffles for prizes, guest speakers to provide dialogue on issues pertaining to teen violence, food, music, prizes, moon bounces
The Run/walk Against Teen Violence will be beneficial in several ways. It will honor Youth memories, it will address issues of teen violence, it will positively impact the community and it will support the efforts of the Young Men of standards
Mentoring Program. This program assist young men in reaching their goals, providing support and mentorship.
